Daily 5

We love Daily 5 in our class! We cheer out loud every time that our teacher tells us that it’s time for Daily 5. In Daily 5, we choose to either read to self, read to someone, listen to reading, do word work, or work on writing. During read to self, we take our book box and a stuffed animal to a smart spot in the classroom to read. We read as much of a book as we can and look for our sight words. During read to someone, we enjoy sharing books with a peer. We take turns reading our books, help each other with unknown words, and discuss our books. During listen to reading, we really like to listen to stories using an app called EPIC on our iPads. Our teacher even made each of us our own account with our own bookshelf of books from genres and about topics that we chose. During word work, we practice spelling and reading CVC words, sight words, or our weekly word family words. Our teacher loves seeing the smiles on our faces and our excitement when we read a word independently. During work on writing, we usually practice reading, building, and writing sentences or write in our journal. This week, another teacher walked into our classroom and complimented us on how great of a job we were doing! We love Daily 5!

Dunk It!

Slam dunk! We are working hard to learn how to solve addition problems in a variety of ways. One way that we like to practice this skill is by playing “Dunk It,” It’s easy – pick a problem, solve it, and slam dunk it into the cup with the matching number/sum. Keep it up Panthers!

Special Snack

Thanks to our cafeteria ladies and all those that helped make us some a delicious snack! We had cookies and hot chocolate as a way of celebrating our hard work and good choices – yummy!
